Pasig City, Philippines – Since Duterte’s election to the Philippine presidency, the country has seen more of China in its recent activities in comparison to the Philippines’ usual and more traditional allies. University of Asia & the Pacific’s School of Law and Governance invited Dr. Robin Garcia, CEO and Founder of Warwick & Roger last April 20 to discuss China and its foreign policies in order to understand the country better.

Having earned his PhD degree in International Politics in Fudan University in China, Garcia gave the audience a perspective on how China’s foreign policy evolved into a defensive realist state. He argues that, while China’s actions are primarily focused on promoting their own security through defensive measures, they also choose to pursue international cooperation centered on mutual security.
